the one who says no to a topic
Runs the SERP research, writes the briefs, and decides whether a query is worth your budget. Fifteen years of watching what B2B buyers actually read before they buy.
We started Zephyr Lane because most "content agencies" write first and hope the rankings follow. We do it the other way round: research, intent, then prose worth the read. One narrow lane — B2B software — and we've never wandered out of it.
Zephyr Lane began the way most useful things do — as a frustration. We'd spent years watching thoughtful, well-argued articles get published into silence, because nobody had checked whether a single person was searching for them. Beautiful prose, zero readers.
So we flipped the order of operations. Now the research comes first: what the query actually is, what the person behind it wants, what the current top results are missing. Only then does the writing start — and by then it already has somewhere to land.
a page earns its place when the person who lands on it was already looking for what you sell.
We stayed deliberately small and deliberately narrow. Only B2B software. It means we already know your buyer, your objections, and the difference between a first-touch explainer and a bottom-of-funnel comparison page — so you're not paying us to learn your world on the clock.
Not a mission statement. The actual rules that decide what we will and won't ship.
A keyword with 200 monthly searches from people ready to buy beats one with 20,000 tyre-kickers. We chase the query that ends in a signup, not the one that looks impressive on a slide.
Before a single sentence is written, you see the angle, the target query, and the outline. No surprises at the draft stage, no rewrites because we guessed wrong about the direction.
Everything ships at 1,800+ words that have been structured, cut, and edited — not a first draft in a nicer font. If it wouldn't survive a second read, it doesn't leave the building.
Our editorial calendars are refreshed every month against what's actually moving in your niche. We'd rather change course in March than defend a plan that made sense in January.
the same two editors read your drafts every month. no account-manager relay, no offshore mystery, no who wrote this?
— what a retainer with zephyr lane actually looks like
Small on purpose. When you send a brief, one of these three reads it — not a queue.
Runs the SERP research, writes the briefs, and decides whether a query is worth your budget. Fifteen years of watching what B2B buyers actually read before they buy.
Takes an approved brief and turns it into an article a busy engineer or founder will finish — technically fluent, never padded, structured for the way people skim.
Handles on-page structure, internal linking, and the monthly SERP read-out — so the writing lands in a library search engines can actually navigate.
We'll come back — usually the same week — with a scope, a price, and a start date. No deck, no discovery-phase invoice, just an honest read on whether we can help.
